- - "So my groups’s convention/family reunion was a success. 90 people came in from as far away as AZ. Our German rep couldn’t make it again. Sigh. The first evening there was a scotch tasting with 24 bottles present. A fun time was had there! Saturday evening I held an informal tasting-beer 101 for mostly newer beer drinkers and those wanting to expand their horizons. We had a few seasoned beer geeks as well. We had 9 beers total, 6 of which were Flat12. The 3 others were Sun King Osiris, Black Swan Fuggles Mild and a Michigan one that I think was called Big Brown Bear BC. It was a beautiful brown Belgian whatever it was. I had intended to wear my Jesus Loves Porter shirt for this (I’d worn it earlier) but ended up not having time to change out of my formal wear so Flat12 was presented with style in a black, full length, spaghetti strap velvet gown w/ comet pattern in mesh and silver in the back. (Pics on request ) Lacto-matic and Big Black Dog 68 were received well overall, particularly w/ newer beer fans. Walk About and Half-Cycle were liked by the more advanced. Overall I got to teach a few things to the newbies stressing TRY EVERYTHING!!! The group that wanted to show on Friday got delayed coming in from MI so that fell through, but I did get to bring one of the crew and his lady by on Sunday.
