And beer at your favorite beer haunt. Byrnes Grilled Pizza has made its home in Holy Cross, on the northside of the Flat12 Bierwerks property. If we’re open, they’re open. And you’re in luck. Grilled pizza – excellent crust, great sauce. It’s a perfect compliment to your Flat12 pint.
If you’re hitting the Flat12 brewery tap room this weekend, come by and say ‘hi’ to Byrnes Grilled Pizza. Menus are available in the tasting room. Take a taste. You’ll be happy.
Don't get up. You can even order from inside the brewery.
Flat12 celebrated our first draft account with a special tapping at Binkley’s Kitchen and Bar on the city’s north side this past Saturday (Jan 15th). We tapped them early, had well-wishers stop in throughout the day, then had a large turnout for an evening of enjoying our first pints of Upside Down Blonde, F12 Porter*, F12 Amber Ale and the Half Cycle IPA. It was a great event. Here are some pictures via our Facebook page.
First Draft Pints for Sale
It was a fantastic way to kick off a big week. Thank you all for joining in and supporting Flat12 along the way.
*The night included the unveiling of our first Hopstar-named beer, Pogue’s Run Porter. Josh Hambright claims it. Several others had suggested some variation of PRP, but Hopstar-Brewer Josh deserves credit for pinning it down.
More Pics: You may have seen us online via IndyStar’s MetroMix. Keep an eye out for features in Nuvo and elsewhere soon.
Oh, it was a glorious day, 12/30/2010! Flat12 Bierwerks opened our doors to the public for sampling and growler sales. What a great day!
To Hopstars and others who have cheered us on to this point, we can’t begin to thank you enough. Opening the taps is a start ; ). This momentous occasion calls for more than a one-day celebration, so much like Chinese New Year (without the massive work stoppage and giant-caterpillar costumes), we intend to keep the good times rolling. We’ll DM, email, post, call…we’ll be in contact with details on all the goings-on.
Many thanks to Hopstars and beer fans who pitched in this week/end to man the doors, check IDs, pour the beer, check out customers – all the stuff that goes on after Rob, Tom and Josh have kegged all that Flat12 product.
Some highlights: this video from Bob Mack at World Class Beverages.
And Indiana Beer, provided this log from their experience on Thursday (Thanks to Bob Ostrander for being a great ambassador for Indiana beer and jumping in to pour samples). While we’re on the topic of Indiana beer people: thanks to IndyBeer Meetup, Girl’s Pint Out, Hoosier Beer Geek, Gray Goat Sports (See Mohawk Riders) and other friends for not only coming in, but pitching in, bringing friends and adding to a great atmosphere Thursday and Friday.

Neighborhood Roll Call: Shout out to Holy Cross, Pat and Josh Dubach, Arsenal Heights, Cottage Home, Brinks, Racers Parts, Canon IV, Marian, Keramida, Indy’s Best Chocolate, IndyCog and a host of others who also stopped in to say ‘hi’.
The taproom is open today(12/31) from 2 to 8 pm. We’ll be filling growlers of Upside Down Blonde, Half Cycle IPA and F12 Porter for thirsty New Year’s Eve revelers and bowl game watchers.
The taproom will be closed on New Year’s Day to give the entire crew a day to celebrate with family. Open on Sunday 12-3. Go Colts!
Thanks again to all who stopped in last night for opening. We had a great time pouring and opening the brewery to you!
Some of you have asked about parking at 414 N. Dorman St. (directions here). There is ample parking on the street as it is strictly commercial on this portion of the block. Overflow parking for events like today (12/30) opening will be available at our neighbor’s lot across the street(just north of Racers Parts Wholesale). They have generously offered their use of their lot even though our hours do overlap a little on Thursday and Friday.
It’s here. We are opening the doors to Flat12 Bierwerks . We’ll have the pomp, circumstance and other grand opening events in January, but right now we’re having beer. In growlers. With the people who have following closely and supporting our efforts. Thanks again to all of you. Come on over on Thursday, December 30th. Beginning at 4pm, Flat12 will be filling growlers of Rob Caputo’s Flat12 Upside Down Blonde, Flat12 Porter, Half Cycle IPA and Glazed Ham Porter.
Our location – 414 N. Dorman, Indianapolis, Indiana. Regular hours and directions are posted on the taproom page. Come try the beer. Tell us what you think. And stick around for a bit. We look forward to seeing you!
HOLIDAY NOTE: We will be closed on New Year’s Day, reopening the day after.
First off, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all.
Thank you to all who have patiently waited for the taps to be flowing on Dorman Street. The time is near and we are excited to share Flat12 beer with you!! In August, we began retrofiting the brewery to accommodate a 20 bbl 3 vessel brewhouse and 40 bbl fermenters. Additionally, we have a smaller system for specialty beers. In November, we secured all permits required to brew and sell beer. Throughout December, we continue to brew beer and put the finishing touches on the brewery.
What can you expect at Flat12 Bierwerks? Good beer and good times. Our main line beers are being brewed in 40 bbl increments while our specialty beers will continue to be brewed in the smaller system. If you like it, tell us and we will brew it in larger batches. If you don’t, we’ll replace it with something else. As many of you know, the relationship with our Hopstars is something that is very important to us. This special group of craft beer fans helps us to know which beers are in demand and more importantly- why. Either way, there will always be new and interesting beers to try alongslide the regular Classic Flat12 lineup.
The brewery will be open for growler sales:
Thursday 4-6
Friday 2-8
Saturday Noon – 6
Sunday Noon – 3
Come Janurary, you will also be able to find us on tap at some of your favorite restaurants and pubs. The website will list all current and new tap locations.
All of us at Flat12 look forward to meeting you, are appreciative of your support and love of quality craft beer, and are excited to see you at the brewery or in the pubs.
